This season, Off-Broadway's acclaimed DR2 Kids Theatre (Daryl Roth, Producer) has partnered with Theatreworks USA (Barbara Pasternack, Artistic Director; Ken Arthur, Producing Director), the nation's leading not-for-profit professional theatre for young audiences, to present "Rabbit Season" at the DR2 Kids Theatre!

"Rabbit Season" features two celebrated live stage productions for kids, each of which will play a limited ten-week engagement at Off-Broadway's DR2 Theatre, located in the heart of Union Square at 103 East 15th Street.

The season kicks off this November with the stage play based on the classic children's tale, THE VELVETEEN RABBIT.

THE VELVETEEN RABBIT is a joyous testament to the eternal power of a child's imagination. This classic tale comes to life for a whole new generation in a wonder-filled, interactive production created by Kevin Del Aguila

With a little bit of nursery magic (and a whole lot of audience participation), three actors and their simple props transform into a wise old rocking horse, a cavalcade of mechanical playthings, a kind-hearted fairy and, of course, a stuffed rabbit who is transformed by the love of a young boy.

THE VELVETEEN RABBIT is written and directed by Drama Desk Award nominee  Kevin Del Aguila (Altar Boyz; Click, Clack, Moo) and based on the popular children's novel by Margery WilliamsThe production features scenic design by Lake Simmons and costume design by Patrick Johnson.

Recommended for ages 4-8, THE VELVETEEN RABBIT begins performances on Friday, November 16, 2012 and officially opens on Sunday, November 18 (4 p.m.). The production concludes its limited engagement on Sunday, January 27, 2013.

"Rabbit Season" continues in February with the new children's musical mystery BUNNICULA.

One dark and stormy night, the Monroe family brings home an orphaned rabbit with mysterious habits and sharp fangs. Could this new member of the family possibly be a vampire? Find out in BUNNICULA!

Based on the acclaimed children's book series by Deborah and James Howe, this new musical adaptation of BUNNICULA features a book by Tony Award nominee Charles Busch (The Tale of the Allergist's Wife), music by Sam Davis and lyrics by Drama Desk nominee Mark Waldrop (When Pigs Fly).

Directed by Carl Andress (The Divine Sister), BUNNICULA is choreographed by Connor Gallagher and features scenic design by Rob Odorisio (Skippyjon Jones) and costume design by Lortel Award winner Gregory Gale (The Voysey Inheritance). Orchestrations are by Greg Pliska (War Horse) and musical direction is by James Cunningham.

Recommended for ages 5-12, BUNNICULA begins performances on Friday, February 8, 2013 and officially opens on Sunday, February 10 (4 p.m.). The production concludes its limited engagement on Sunday, April 14.

Casting for both productions will be announced soon.
